Financial Information – What schools must publish online

As you will be aware, since 2012 there has been a long list of things which a school must publish online by law.

Every year the list seems to get longer and longer and sadly this year is no exception.

You can of course download our updated Ofsted & Statutory school website checklist from our website.

There are 2 new Financial Information requirements to take care of. We’ll list them here exactly as published then examine each one.

You must publish:

  • how many school employees (if any) have a gross annual salary of £100,000 or more in increments of £10,000 – we recommend using a table to display this
  • a link to the webpage which is dedicated to your school on the schools financial benchmarking service – follow the prompts to find your school’s specific page

Employees earning >£100k

If you have no employees earning more than £100,000 gross we recommend you state this to demonstrate that you have complied with the requirements.

Otherwise, as suggested, you can use a table to present the information such as the one below:

Gross SalaryNumber of Employees
£100,000 – £110,0000
£110,000 – £120,0001
£120,000 – £130,0001

If you use the Greenhouse School Website CMS you can simply click the table icon to drop in a suitable table.

Schools Financial Benchmarking Link

Simply follow the link and search for your school.

Copy the URL from the address bar which will look similar to this:

https://schools-financial-benchmarking.service.gov.uk/school/detail?urn=119740

You can then create a link with more friendly text on your school website such as:

Schools Financial Benchmarking Information

Important

While you’re on the benchmarking page, you’ll notice there’s a link to your school website. Why not take the opportunity to check it’s correct!
